Elaneer(Tender Coconut) Pudding

Ingredients: Tender Coconut water  - 2cups Thin Scrapings of tender coconut -1cup Agar Agar /China Grass -10g Condensed Milk - 1/2tin Milk - 1 1/2cup Water - 1cup Cherries for garnishing Sugar -according to your taste Method: In a pan boil milk and  condensed milk  .Stir well.Add sugar to this.Mean while soak agar agar powder in 1 cup of water and heat on low flame till the powder completely dissolves.Strain it and pour this to milk mixture.Mix  tender coconut scrapings to this.Allow to cool and refrigerate.Decorate with chopped cherries.

Chakka (Jackfruit) Puzhukku

Ingredients: Unripe Jackfruits(chopped Finely) - 3 cups Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp Grated coconut -1/2 cup Green chilli - 3 Garlic pods - 5 Curry Leaves Salt Coconut Oil Method: Cook Jackfruit pieces in  water along with salt and turmeric powder until they are soft. Make a paste of garlic  and greenchillies.In this add coconut and and mix it well. Add this paste to cooked Jackfruits and stir well for 2 minutes. Switch off the stove and add 1tsp coconut oil and curry leaves.Serve hot.

Potato Chakkakuru Mezhukkupuratti(Stir Fried Jackfruit Seeds and Potatoes)

Ingredients: Potato (Peeled and Sliced)- 3 ,medium Jackfruit seeds (Sliced) -1/2cup shallot - 3 Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp Red chilli powder -1tsp Curry leaves Coconut oil Salt Method: Cook the potatoes and jackfruits with salt,turmeric ,chilli powder and enough water. Heat oil in a pan .Add sliced shallots and curry leaves.Saute well for 3 minutes. Add the cooked Jackfruit seeds and potatoes.Stir everything and cook for another 3 minutes. Serve with rice.

Malabar Style Chemmeen/Prawns Curry

  Ingredients: King prawns  - 300g Tomato - 1 Green chillies - 2 Grated coconut - 1/2cup Cumin seeds - 1/2tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp Red chilli powder - 1tbsp Coconut oil - 1tsp Curry leaves Salt Garlic pods - 3(crushed) Method: 1.Marinate the prawns with salt,turmeric powder and chilli powder for 1/2 an hr. 2.Heat a  claypot .Add prawns,sliced tomato,green chillies with 1 cup of water.Cook it for 10 minutes. 3.Grind coconut and cumin seeds with little water. 4.Add the paste to the curry.Cook it on low flame till its done. 5.Switch of the stove and add coconut oil,curry leaves and crushed garlic.mix it well and cover it. 6.Serve with rice. Unniyappam - My 100th Post!!!

Yeah!!! 10 months of blogging and finally 1 reached my 100th post!.Thanks alot for your love and support my friends. I think the main achievement is i got some lovely friends through this. So to celebrate this wonderful event I made this yummy sweet . For me Unniyappam is related to Vishu .Its a must for Vishu in my hometown-Kannur. So I am a bit nostalgic about this :) My mom makes this often when we have guests.The main ingredient for this is unroasted rice flour which we need to make ourself. So here is  my mom's Recipe .. Ingredients: Raw rice - 2 cups (soaked for 2-3 hrs) All purpose flour(Maida) - 1/2cup Jaggery  - 1/2kg Small Banana - 4-5 Sesame seeds - 2tsp Dried coconut pieces - a handful Cardmom - 10 Baking soda - a pinch(optional) Oil for frying Method: 1.Drain the soaked rice and grind it to fine power . 2.Melt jaggery with 1 cup of water.Strain it and allow to cool. 3.In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients and make a thick batter.Add extra water if necessary.The bat

Pavakka/Bitter Gourd Thoran

Ingredients: Bitter gourd - 1 Onion - 1 Turmeric powder -1/4tsp Green chilli - 2 Coconut oil - 1tbsp Grated coconut - 1/2 cup Mustard - 1/2tsp Curry leaves Salt Method: 1. Chop the cleaned bitter gourd and onion. 2. In a pan heat oil and splutter mustard and curry leaves. 3. Add finely chopped bitter gourd , onion,turmeric powder,salt and green chillies. 4.sprinkle 2tbsp of water .cover and cook it on medium heat. 5. add grated coconut and mix well. 6.Serve with rice.
